Built by a controls guy, for people who run their own house

Wizodd Technologies provides hardware and software to the Home Assistant community. The idea is simple: build the solutions that are not practical for large manufacturers to make, based on what the community says it needs.

A controls company for people who run their own house

Touch panels, buttons, scenes, automation, integration: command of a space. Lighting is one of the things the products control, not what the company is.

The mission

Build the solutions that are not practical for large manufacturers to make, and build them with the people who will use them.

The people

The founder and the mascot

One of them has spent a career in controls. The other one is Wizodd.

Rex Smith, founder of Wizodd Technologies
Rex Smith

Founder

Rex began his career in Palm Beach as a custom integrator working with AMX and Lutron. He went on to become AMX's marketing representative for Florida, Georgia and South Carolina, and then Business Development Manager for the AMX Amenities Solution, where he guided its development. For the past decade he has served as Chief Technologist for an LED lighting manufacturer.

At home, Rex is a home automation enthusiast and Home Assistant supporter, and he kept running into the same problem: the things a professional system does well were not available to people building their own. Wizodd is his answer to that.

Wizodd, the mascot
Wizodd

Mascot, sidekick, answerer of questions

Mischievous, quick, and delighted by problems. "Huh. That's odd. I like odd." He never says something is not supported. He says let's see what it takes.
